D. F. Meyer (sic, Mayer), Former Town Clerk Is Summoned After Short Illness
Dom. F. Meyer, pioneer resident of Holy Cross and for many years town clerk of the town of Belgium, died at his home at Holy Cross last Sat. Death resulted after a short illness.
Mr. Meyer was born at Pontel De Arlon, Belgium, Apr. 20, 1864, and came to this country with his parents when two years old. They settled on a farm near Holy Cross. Some 40 years ago he engaged in the hotel and tavern business which occupation he has followed ever since. For 24 years he was town clerk of the town of Belgium. He was a member of the Holy Cross branch of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, a member of the Fredonia Holy Name Society. He was an officer in the Holy Cross branch of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. He was joined in marriage to Miss Barbara Wolf on Dec. 11, 1894, who survives him.
Besides his wife Mr. Meyer is survived by the following children: Mrs. Frank Klaus (sic?, Kraus) of Belgium, Mrs. William [Olive] Pergande, Mrs. Stanley [Helen] McKulski, and Mrs. (sic?, Mr.) Vincent Meyer of Evanston IL, Mrs. Richard [Theresa] Weyker of Holy Cross, Miss Cecelia Meyer of Los Angeles CA and Inez and Clarence Meyer at home.
