"John and Sally (McQuay) Foland came to IN in the spring of 1858 and settled in Center Township, Wayne Co, IN . About 1876 John sold all of his possessions and moved with his daughter Cora to Missouri where he purchased a farm and resided until his death March 22, 1903. Sally died in Center Township, Wayne Co, IN in 1861. John and Sally had eight children." (Lafayette, Andrew, Sarah, John, Lydia, Mary, Cora, and Francis)

John Foland and Sarah McQuay were married Feb 23, 1846 in Shenendoah, Shenadoah, VA. (Virginia Marriages, 1740-1850).

My Note: There is a ninth child (Lemuel born in 1845 )who is listed as Lemuel Kisler age 5 with Rebecca Kisler aged 55 living with John and Sarah Foland on the 1850 census. On the 1860 census, he is listed as Lemuel Foland. Lemuel Foland (b.1845,d.1934) is probably the son of John Foland and Anna Kessler. Lemuel says his father is John Foland and his mother is Anna Kessler on his marriage record to Marquerite Bolling Yazell. Rebecca Kisler (sic) is probably the mother of Anna Kessler.
