Thelma C. Roberts, 88, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 12:45 A.M. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born on October 4, 1921 in Middleton, Tennessee the daughter of the late Arch G. Jones and Lyndall B. Bishop. She married Sherman T. Roberts on August 25, 1941 in Jackson, Missouri and he preceded her in death on April 20, 1984. Surviving family members include her 2 Sons: Recil Roberts of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Lonny T. Roberts of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 3 Daughters: Sue Roberts-Prainito and husband John of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Betty Keele of Mt. Vernon, Illinois and Jane Hart and husband Sonny of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; 6 Grandchildren: Jim Sammons and wife Laurie of Anchorage, Alaska, Kelly Barva and husband Brian of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Tara Keele of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Randee Roberts of McLeansboro, Illinois, Kacy Hughes and husband Michael of Evansville, Indiana and Ryan Hart and wife Lauren of Evansville, Indiana; 10 Great- Grandchildren; Ashley (Ian) Ranmar, Amber Heise, Brendon Barva all of Mt. Vernon; Stacie Sammons(Austin) Casey of Port Lavaca, TX.; Jamie Sammons at Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ.; Katie Sammons at University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ.; Taylor, Lyndsie & Alex Keele and Haley Hart of Evansville, IN. and a great-great grandson, Braydon Casey of Port Lavaca, TX.; one brother; Bobby Jones and wife Gladys of Springfield, Missouri; Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Her parents, husband, infant twin grandsons; Anthony and Paul Roberts, one sister; Clara Crawford and four brothers; Julian, Willard, Gene, and David Jones; and one son-in-law; Gerald Keele preceded her in death. Thelma and her husband were owners and operators of Rocket Cafe in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and worked for Dowzer Electric for 27 years.
