Mr. Grover Adkins, 82, of 4760 Franklin Turnpike, Danville, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at University of North Carolina Hospital, In Chapel Hill, N.C.

Born March 17, 1927, in Museville, he was the son of the late Florence Lenora Adkins Schmidt and the late Frank Schmidt.

He was married to Mary Andrews Adkins of the residence.

Mr. Adkins was the former owner of Danville Lincoln-Mercury Honda Dealership for many years. He was formerly a member of the Wood Brothers Racing Team.

Mr. Adkins was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.

He was of the Baptist faith. Grover was a man that held a deep love for his family. He also had a profound love for his animals and enjoyed nothing more than sitting on the porch and watching his dogs play.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Tammy A.Warren, and her husband, Bob, of Danville; one sister, Lucille Lakey, of Danville; and two grandsons, Nathan Lee Adkins and Robert Colby Warren, both of Danville.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 11a.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Brian Edwards officiating.
