GOODWIN - Florence Irene Wildeboer, 89, Goodwin, died Thursday, April 30, 2009, at a Clear Lake care center. She was the widow of William Wildeboer.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 5 at 2 p.m. in the Bemis Holland Presbyterian Church, rural Bemis. The Rev. Terence Drew will officiate. Music will be provided by Marsha Kurtenbach, organist, Jody Wildeboer, soloist and Donna Alberts, soloist.

Burial will be in the Bemis Cemetery, rural Bemis. Pallbearers will be Bill Dummann, Gordon Goens, Bud Ruesink, Jim Uthe, Harold Van Stryland and Tim Begalka.

Visitation will be Monday, May 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Houseman Family Funeral Home at Clear Lake, and will continue Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

She was born on July 8, 1919 to Glen and Emily (Westrom) Corderman in Flandreau. She was raised near Goodwin, and attended District #16 Country School and then graduated from Goodwin High School.

On Dec. 6, 1939 she married William Wildeboer. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Goodwin, where she worked faithfully along side her husband. On June 27, 1981 William died.

She continued to live on their farm until Oct. 8, 2007 when she entered the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake.

She was a member of the Bemis Holland Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Presbyterian Women and taught Sunday school. She enjoyed doing fancy work, reading and working on the farm. She also enjoyed having company and was known for giving out pink peppermints.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William.

Survivors include her five children, Bertha Maine of Ortonville, Minn., Irene (John Jr.) DeBoer of Clear Lake, Velma Wildeboer, and Harlo (Donna) Wildeboer, all of Goodwin, and Jolene "Jo" (Steve) Leemhuis of Brookings; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
