Alonzo was the first person in the family to head "West". He traveled from Schoharie County to Batavia, NY in search of work. He took his oldest son, Sheridan, along to help. They finally settled in Ransomville, NY and sent for the rest of his immediate family.
At one time he owned a livery stable in Schoharie County.
Alonzo was a big man - six foot two inches and a large frame.
