Elbert Benjamin Craft, 88, of Portsmouth, the last surviving child of Henry Clay and Nellie Daniels Craft, died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at SOMC Hospice.

He was born May 31, 1920, in South Portsmouth, Ky.

He is survived by one daughter; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter, all of McDermott; a special friend, Tami; and several nieces and nephews.

Ben was a retired construction worker from Laborer's Local 83 and a WWII U.S. Army veteran.

He was also preceded in death by six brothers, James, William, Ervin, Vernon, Calvin and Paul Craft; three sisters, Artie Craft, Betty Stapleton, and Virginia Mault; six half brothers, Leonard, Luther, Delbert, Willard, Arlie and Jasper Craft; one half sister, Ida Craft; and special friend, Thelma Jones.

Graveside services will be conducted 3:15 p.m. Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Scioto Burial Park, with Tim Throckmorton officiating. Military graveside rites will be performed by the William A. Baker Post of the American Legion. A Cherokee ceremony will follow for ATA. Friends may call at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

The family's favorite charity is SOMC Hospice, 2201 25th St., Portsmouth, OH 45662.
