John W. Luke, 88, of Clay City, died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2003, at Flora Pavilion in Flora.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Reverend Brad Harris officiating. Burial will be in Clay City Cemetery.

Mr. Luke was born on January 11, 1915, in Clay County, the son of John Albert and
Nellie (Graham) Luke. He married Grace I. McDowell on July 9, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo.
She preceded him in death on December 7, 1983.

He was retired from working in the oil field. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Luke is survived by three sons, John Robert Luke and his wife, Donna of Olney; Donald Luke of Olney; Thomas Luke of Clay City; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother and six sisters.
