John Ruben Reed was born in Shackleford County, Texas April 6, 1882 and passed away at his home August 4th at 5:30 a.m. at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 28 days.
Mr. Reed was married to Hettie Choate March 23, 1902 in Beckkham [sic] County, Oklahoma and came to Wheeler County in 1922. He was a rancher and a member o the Nazarene Church of Wheeler.
Survivors are the wife, Mrs. J.R. Reed of Wheeler; and children, Johnnie Reed, Wheeler; Mrs. Ona Black, Wheeler; Mrs. May Miller, Borger; Domer Reed, Wheeler; Mrs. Ruth Dewolf, Lubbock; and Mrs. Lola Stone, Muskogee, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. M.A. Hanks, Wheeler; and Mrs. Lee Wells of Elk City, Oklahoma.
One son, one sister and 2 brothers preceded him in death.
Pall bearers were grandchildren J.H. Kelly, Lonnie Kelly, J.R. Black, Dudley Miller, Domer Miller, and Francis Reed.
Honorary bearers were Walter Anglin, Oscar Schillers, Levi Reed, Cliff Weatherly, Alan Meadows and Will Frye.
Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funeral Home in Wheeler.
