John stayed with part of Mormon Battalion and spent the winter in Sutter's Fort. He didn't leave until spring of 48 and came to Salt Lake in October of 1848. The Mormon Battalion by Norma Ricketts. They are in the 1850 Census for Pottawattamie, Iowa.
Eliza was living with two of her daughters and their families in Vernal, Utah not long before her death as is recorded in a Petition for a widow's pension for the Mormon Battalion that someone had filled out for her. She died within a year of the papers being reviewed in Vernal.
