Our beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and uncle died early in the morning Wednesday, January 5, 2005.

Jack was born December 18, 1934, in Ogden, Utah, to Thomas Spaulding and Nellie Rampton Lowe. He was the youngest of three children and grew up in Hooper, Utah. Educated in public schools he graduated from Weber High School, Weber College, received a Bachelors Degree from Utah State University, and received a Masters Degree in 1970.

Teaching was his career and he taught Junior High School, High School, night classes for the University of Utah, and also taught in Geelong, Australia on an International Fellowship.

On April 2, 1958, he married Janet James and they had five children. They later divorced. He also married Tamara L. Tingey and they had one child. They later divorced. In 1982 he met Karen Smith while camping in the Uinta Mountains and they were married in the Ogden Utah LDS Temple April 1, 1983.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full time mission in Hawaii, a full time mission with his wife, Karen, in the Canada Winnipeg Mission, a part-time service mission for 4 1/2 years at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, three years as an usher at the LDS Conference Center as well as other ward and stake callings.

He is survived by his wife, Karen; six children: Marilyn (Brent) Jones, Marjorie (Jay) Moore, Michele (Greg) Casey, Mark (Lisa) Lowe, Melissa Lowe, Alisha (Daryl) Maroney; two stepchildren: Carol Jean (Brian) Thacker, Barbara JoAnne (Dave) Garfield; 19 grandchildren; brother Don (Sherrill) Lowe and sister Lorene (J.D.) Bingham. Preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a viewing for friends and family Sunday evening, January 9, 2005, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Monday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the church where funeral services will be held. Services are Monday, January 10, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Porter Lane Chapel, 437 W. Porter Lane, Centerville, Utah. Interment will be in the Hooper, Utah, cemetery, 5290 South 6300 West. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Red Cross or the LDS Humanitarian Fund on behalf of the recent Tsunami flood victims.
