Mrs. Griff Calhoun, 88, Dies Monday At The Magraw Clinic
Nancy Augustus Herndon Calhoun, wife of the late Griff Calhoun, passed away at the Magraw Clinic Monday, August 6, in the early afternoon.
Mrs. Calhoun fell and broke her leg a week before her death which with a hypostatic condition of the lungs, caused her death.
She was born March 13, 1857, in the Donaldson creek community in the southwestern part of the county, where she spent her entire life.
In her early girlhood, she was united in marriage to Griff Calhoun, who died in 1932. To this union were born ten children, of whom four preceded her to her grave, three in infancy, and Mrs. Monroe Turner, who died several years ago.
She is survived by two sons, Joe Calhoun, Trigg County, and Boyd Calhoun, of Kansas City, Mo., four daughters, Mrs. Fanny Rogers, of Madisonville; Mrs. John Futrell of Arkansas; Mrs. R G Noel and Mrs. Bluford Bridges, of Trigg County; 19 grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at the Calhoun graveyard, with her grandson, Herman Turner, officiating.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Herman and Terry Turner, Boyce Taylor Noel, Lacy Ford, Herbert Herndon, and Denny Allen.
Mrs. Calhoun was united with the Donaldson Creek Baptist Church in her early girlhood and held her membership there until her death.
