William Peter Swaim was the son of William Swaim & Jemima Marley. He married Nancy D. Connelly on 11 Oct 1860 at Parke County, Indiana.

William P. Swaim died of paralysis at his home in Bellmore, April 14, 1889, aged 52 years and 29 days.

He was born in Parke county, March 16, 1837. August 24, 1850 he joined the New Discovery Baptist church of which he was a member at the time of his death. October 11, 1860 he married Nancy E. Connelly, who survives him. To them were born three sons and five daughters, all of whom are living. His community has lost one of its best and most useful citizens, and his bereaved family is deprived of a kind husband and an affectionate father.

The funeral services were conducted by Elder S. K. Fuson, and were largely attended. The deceased was buried in the Mt. Moriah cemetery.
