I have found a Carlos J. Adams listed as a Hospital Steward serving with the 15th Infantry Regiment in the NPS Soldier and Sailor System database, but not with the 13th Infantry. Adams is also included in a roster of Enlisted Men of the 15th Infantry Regiment as having served in the Civil War and immediately thereafter. I believe there may have been a transcription error at sometime, transposing or mistaking a 5 for a 3.
