"August 16, 1909. Bronco busting, Frank Spurlock and pretty cowgirl, Helen Hiatt, were married on horseback while on their way to Frontier Days from their ranch homes. The county clerk had gone home for the day but came from his home to issue the marriage certificate and the Judge, standing between the horses, married the couple in the road (median) in front of his home on Mountain Avenue. The couple went on to Cheyenne to attend the celebration"
