Lamar was very devoted to his home and family, always remembering them on special occasions such as birthdays, Mother's day and always on Christmas. We have many precious gifts that he bestowed on the family. He enjoyed going to school and had many chums & friends. He liked to fishing and hunting and enjoyed swimming very much. He enjoyed his Daddy's vacations so much that he could hardly wait for them every summer. We are so glad we had him on several of them: once to the Davis Mansions, once to San Antonio & Fredericksburg, once to Baton Rouge, La., & Vicksburg, Miss., and last to Dallas to the world's fair.

He was very ambitious and had high ideals. He had been a paper boy for seven years and was also employed in the People's State Bank at Baytown. He was the noblest and bravest boy I ever witnessed in his last days (note: Lamar was diagnosed with Leukemia and died less than a month later). He wanted to live so much yet he was willing for God's will to be done.
