Holly A. Stoner funeral Monday
Palmyra-(N-P)- Holly A. Stoner, lifelong, prominent resident of the Palmyra and Unadilla communities, died Friday at Community Memorial Hospital at Syracuse following an illness of three years with cancer.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m., at the Palmyra Methodist Church. The Rev. Robert Neben will officiate. Burial will be at the Unadilla Cemetery.
Mr. Stoner was born December 22, 1893, at Unadilla, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Stoner. He was married to Hazel Barnett who preceded him. He was married to Elta C. Paul September 5, 1925, at Grand Island.
Mrs. Stoner has been the News-Press correspondent many years.
Survivors include his wife and daughter, Mrs. Dale (Wauneta) Anderson, Midland, Tex., grandchildren Judy Anderson of Midland and Donna and Craig Bolz of Palmyra.
Other survivors are sisters, Mrs. Elmina Pickering, Lincoln and Mrs. Carl Seeman, Palmyra, brother, Howard of Lawrence, Kans., and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded by a brother, Sam, two infant brothers and an infant sister.
He was a retired rural mail carrier serving Unadilla and Palmyra for 38 years and four generations on his route.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church at Palmyra, the town board, and was employed for 12 years by Northern Natural Gas, served with the evacuation hospital No. 214 in France during WW1, was a 50 year member of the Nash-Jensen Legion Post 195 of which he was a past commander and was a member of the 40 and 8.
The family suggests memorials to the Palmyra United Methodist Church.
Tonsing and Son is in charge. The body will lie in state at the church Monday from 8 a.m. to service time.
