"Ernest R. Davis, 86, Kansas City in Clay County, MO, died October 9, 1999, at Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center. Mr. Davis was born April 12, 1913, west of Liberty, MO, in a log cabin, to his parents Col. T. H. Davis and Nancy Jane (Johnson) Davis. He spent all of his life in the Liberty, MO, area and never lived more than 15 miles from his birthplace. He was a farmer before he worked for the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Cliff Manor Nursing Home and retired from the North Kansas City Hospital. Ernest was a member of the Gashland Baptist Church, Clay County Sheriff Posse, Claycomo Riding Club, the American Angus Association and the Clay County Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma E. Davis, on December 1, 1989; his parents, Col. T. H. and Nancy Jane Davis; two brothers, Jessie Earl Davis, William Nelson David; and a sister, Nellie Mae Botham. Survivors include a niece, Nancy Ruth Botham, Liberty, MO; and cousins and friends."
