David D. Woolard, age 64, of Marion, Illinois, formerly of Joliet, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 in Marion. He was born December 4, 1944 to in Eldorado, Illinois to the late Hazel W. and Lloyd R. Woolard.
David dedicated his life to the armed forces. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at 17, fought in Viet Nam, and retired Senior Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force earning many honors, then served as a Recruiter after many years of active duty.
Survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Heizer), step daughters Mary Ellen and Debbie, stepson Wayne Pugh, sisters Phyliss (Syzmanski), Sally (John) Vance, Joyce Barney and brothers Harold (Suzy) Woolard and Chuck Snuggs. Many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings Juanita, James and Bill.
Memorial services were held Monday, March 2nd, 2009, from 12:00 to 1:00 at Immanuel Church, 328 Wilhelm Court, Joliet, IL. Interment followed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
