Mrs. Tavy Benoit, age 94, passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at her residence.
A resident of Little Chenier was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Creole. A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aristile Benoit, her parents, August and Eugenia Baccigalopi, her brother, Jim Baccigalopi and her sisters, Emma LeBoeuf, Wilma Roberds, Lula Savoie and Ena Broussard.
Survivors include her two brothers, John Floyd Baccigalopi and wife, Earline of Holmwood and Paul Enes Baccigalopi and wife, Eunice of Creole; and numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece and caregiver, Rena Trahan of Little Chenier.
Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2009, at St. Patrick's Chapel in Sweetlake. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Creole under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Father Vincent Vadakkedath will officiate. Pallbearers will be Doyle, Glenn and Gary Baccigalopi, Michael D. Trahan, Dayton Trahan and Robert Broussard. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, May 6, from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, from 8 a.m. until time of service. The family would like to thank St. Patrick's and Dubois Hospital, DeQuincy Home Health, Heart of Hospice, Dr. Craig Broussard, and Dr. Francis Bride for their care and compassion for Mrs. Benoit and to her caregivers, Patsy Dronet, Carla Jacobs, Deala Theriot and all the others who helped take care of Mrs. Benoit. The family would like to also spiritually thank Father Joe McGrath, Father Vincent Vadakkedath, Msgr. Harry Greig, Deacon Dan Landry, Becky Vidrine and Susan Johnson.
