Wilma was born in rural Wright County, Missouri, where she was reared and completed her education. In 1922 the family moved to McIntosh County, Oklahoma. On January 20, 1927 Wilma and Norman O. Owens were married at Norwood, Missouri. They came to Oklahoma where they farmed in the Vera and Ramona areas. Norman preceded her in death. In the early '70s, Wilma moved to Ramona, Oklahoma. In 1989 she moved to Caney, Kansas to live in retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Coffeyville, Kansas.
