Mrs. Smith. 94, died at the Bolivar General Hospital. A native a life-long resident of Hardeman County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Theodore and Mattie Hammers McCarley. She married Willard Jessie Smith on July 4, 1935 and he died September 18, 2007. She was a past member of the New Union Baptist Church and currently a member at Bolivar First Baptist Church. She worked at the Bolivar Central High School cafeteria for 25 years, retiring as supervisor. Her hobbies included a love for gardening.

Her survivors are a daughter, Maxine (Al) Christy of Dayton, OH; a son, Luther (Barbara) Smith of Bolivar; a sister, Pauline Arm-strong of Bolivar; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchil-dren; and four great-great-grand-children.
