Gertrude Wolbert the daughter of George G. Wolbert and Johanna (Otte) Wolbert was born September 3, 1895 on the family farm northwest of Cawker City, Kansas.

On August 3, 1912 Gertrude married Basil Heumphreus son of Ransom Woodrow Heumphreus Catherine (Regan) Heumphreus. To this union was born two daughters:

Helen Marie Heumphreus
Frances Woodroe Heumphreus

Gertrude died suddenly on December 10, 1918 from the Spanish Influenza. She had been suffering for several days before her death, but the attack seemed to be a very light one. Her doctor and friends did not consider her seriously ill and her death on the evening of December 10th was an unexpected shock.
