Beadle, David, Hart, born in Crawford Co., Ohio Dec. 18, 1823. Four years later his parents moved to St. Joseph Co., which place was the home of Mr. Beadle until 1880. Nov. 23, 1861, he enlistd in Co. F. 6thy Mich. Light Artillery. After taking part in several engagements, he was captured but was soon paroled. He was exchanged in March 1863 and soon rejoined the army, serving until Jan. 11, 1865, when he received his discharge. The hardships of war caused inflammation of the eyes which terminated in total blindness and for thirty years he has been so afflicted. His energy and ambition however have not been lost, for he has accumulated a comfortable fortune for his old age. In his early days he held many offices of trust and honor in his community. In 1846 he was township treasurer for three years, and also highway commissioner. He was married April 10, 1846 to Miss Lucy Wing. Ten children were born to them, six of whom are now living. He first located in this county at Crystal in 1880, living there until he moved to Hart in 1894.
