Lucy was allowed a pension on account of the service of her husband David on her application executed December 22, 1853. On April 12, 1855, she applied for bounty land which was due also on account of her husband's service, and she was allowed 60 acres of bounty land.

She and David had four children: Mary (Mrs. Oscar F. Cash), Francis G., Elizabeth Bettie (Mrs. John Tiffey), and Lucy (Mrs. Philip C. Samuel).

Lucy was buried in the Stern-Cash graveyard, now located in an unmarked grave in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bowling Green, Virginia.

I LUCY STERNE of Caroline County, Virginia being of sound and disposing memory, do hereby and by these presents make and constitute this to be my last will and testament as follows - To wit: After my funeral expenses and debts are paid, I will and bequeath to my grandson, D. S. CASH [David Semple Cash] all of my Estate real, personal, and missed, and I desire my said Grandson to qualify as executor of this my last will and request the Court before which he may qualify as such, not to require any surety to be given by him as such. Given under my hand and seal in solemn form this 20th day of October, 1875.
