According to his WWI draft card (1917-1918), he was single at that time and employed as a brick worker. It says that he had somehow lost his right hand. On 8 November 1930, he married Margaret (Clark) Spohn in Perry Co. The marriage record lists her parents as E.R. Clark and Ethel Ferguson. That would have been Edward Raymond Clark and Alice Ethel (Ferguson) Clark of Columbus, OH. The 1950 census for Charles in New Straitsville, Perry Co. OH has him divorced and living with one of his brothers.
