Agnes Cecila Nigh was born to Joseph Nigh and Mary Jane (Bradley) Nigh in Seaforth, Ont. Always of the Roman Catholic faith. She entered the Community of the Sister of St. Joseph of the Diocese of London, Ontario and received the Habit on Dec. 11, 1893 and took her Final Vows on August 15, 1896 at the House of Providence, London, Ontario. She died at St. Joseph's Hospital, London, Ontario. She had taken the Religious name of Sister Marcella and was in her forty-second year of her Religious Life when she died. She spent her years ministering to the phyiscal ills of many and gave much encouragement to her grateful patients. She spent her years in a hidden life of a true Sister of St. Joseph, with great and abiding faith in God, labouring cheerfully and generously for His Honour and Glory. the keynote of Sister's life was service, mingled always with kindness, gentleness and charity. A Solemn High Mass was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Convent Mother House, London, Friday, October 4th, by Rev. M.L. Brisson of St. Peter's Semenary, assisted by Rev. J. Morrison and Father C. Doyle as Deacon and Sub-Deacon. His Excellency, Right Rev. Bishop Kidd conducted the Libera and gave the final absolution. In the sanctuary were many members of the city clergy. Internment took place in St. Peter's Cemetery. Rev. J. Morrison assisted by Rev. Flannery and Rev. Simpson officiated, and the mortal remains of Sister Marcella wer laid away to await the final call. May she rest in peace.
