Services for E.C. Stanbery, 64, Fruitvale, were held Tuesday, April 20, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, canton, with Rev. Mark Winskie and Rev. Dennith Stovall officiating. Burial was in Starr Cemetery in Van Zandt County. Mr. Stanbery died April 18, 1999, in a hospital in Grand Saline.
He was born May 11, 1934, in Wills Point, to Leon Clifford and Emma Marie Hammons Stanbery. He grew up in Hillsboro, Canton and Wills Point. He moved to Van Zandt County after serving in the Army. He was a construction worker for a number of years, and retired from Morton Salt after 18 years of service. He enjoyed racing cars during the late 1950's throught the 1970's. He was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts at Azle and Grand Saline. He was preceded in death by his father and brother Jerry C. Stanbery.
Survivors include son, Barry Stanbery, Wills Point; mother, Emma Marie Stanbery, Grand Saline; brother, James Allen Stanbery, Grand Saline; grandchildren, Branon Stanbery and Audra Stanbery, both of Wills Point; numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers included Bob Jones, Billy Richardson, Paul Rose, Clifford Stanbery, Johhny Glascock and Tommy Wade.
