Otto Dwight Haynes, 85, Tulelake, died Tuesday at MWMC following an automobile accident in the Tulelake area.

He was one of 12 children born to Charles David and Ellen Victoria Riffle Haynes, a pioneer family of Rock Creek, West Virginia.

He and Pearl Irene Mason were married in Granger, Washington, on June 12, 1923

They moved to Stubbenville, Ohio, in 1924, where two chldren were born. In 1927 they lived and worked in Granger, Washington, where two more children were born. In 1935 the family moved to Tulelake and Mr. Haynes worked for Bill Osborne. Another child was born in 1938, the same year Mr. Haynes purchased his first farm, the Murry Homestead, which he continued to farm until his retirement in 1968.

Mr. Haynes was a member Grange, Farm Bureau, Tulelake Growers Association and was instrumental in founding the East Tulelake Water District. He enjoyed gardening, travel, hunting, fishing, his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl; sons and daughter-in-law, Bill and Marcella Haymes, Larry and Lynn Haynes; daughters and son-in-law, Lura Howe, Polly and Durrell Walden, all of Tulelake; brother, R.S. Haynes, Klamath Falls; sister, Ora Withers, Rock Cave, WV; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

A daughter, Betty, preceded Mr. Haynes in death.
