Joseph Cady married Marie Duffner in August 1926, and their son Joseph was born in 1928. In 1930, Joseph was disabled by a thrombosis, and was an invalid for the remainder of his life.
In winter 1932, Joseph Cady and his parents purchased a cottage on the tip of Clark's Point, on the shores of Lake Ontario in the town of Henderson NY. This cottage became a central to the lives of many of the members of the families of both Joe and Marie. Joe greatly enjoyed the two years he was able to spend at the cottage, though he wasn't able to get around much.
Joseph Cady Sr died in December 1935. The following obituary was printed in the Syracuse Newspaper:

CADY FUNERAL ON MONDAY
Funeral services for Joseph G. Cady, 34, who died at his home, 141 E Corning Ave after a long illness will take place in All Saint's Episcopal Church at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning. Rev. Fenimore E. Cooper, rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Weedsport.
Well known in fraternal circles, Mr. Cady was a member of Salt City Lodge of Masons, Central City Chapter, RAM., and Central City Commandery, K.T.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marie Duffner Cady; a son, Joseph G. Cady Jr, his parents, Mr. And Mrs. George T. Cady, and his grandmother, Mrs. M. Louise Pfohl.
