Howard S. Baldwin, Retired City Mail Carrier, Is Dead

Howard S. Baldwin, 78, 302 S. 15th St., died early this morning at his home following a long illness.

He formerly was a city mail carrier who had retired after 38 years of service.

Mr. Baldwin had lived in his present home 32 years and had lived in New Castle since he was 21.

He had been a member of First Methodist Church more than 50 years. He and his wife celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.

Surviving are his widow, Mary; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Peden of Oxford, Ohio and Mrs. Mariellen Bower of Goshen; a son, Robert of New Castle; a sister, Mrs. Mary Vaughan of Indianapolis; a brother, Virgil Baldwin of Green River, Utah; seven grandchildren, Helen Katherine Andrews of Bakersfield, Calif., Robert and Ronnie Baldwin of Dublin; Tony, Brent, Joel and Jan Bower of Goshen; nieces and nephews.

The body has been taken to the Davis-Couden Funeral Home, 700 S. 14th St., where friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. J. Thomas Frost officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery.
