Madelia E. Coon, 72, of El Paso, Texas, and formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, at Vista Hills Medical Center, El Paso, following a brief illness.
She was born May 29, 1918, in Madelia, Minn., daughter of William and Ethel Epperson Goings. She married Alvae "Bud" Coon on July 25, 1938, in Waterloo. He died Jun 25, 1984.
Survivors include three sons, William F. of Cedar Falls, Alvae "Bud" of Indianola and Robert D. of El Paso; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Goings of Waterloo and Don Goings of Evansdale; and four sisters, Nellie Warm of Port Orange, Fla., and Minnie Kies and Mildred Sinnwell, both of Waterloo, and Lillian Friedley of Dekalb, Ill,; she was preceded in death by a sister, Elma Goings; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of Memories-West, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
