Mary P. VanHyning, 84, formerly of 47 Justina Street, Heuvelton, died Tuesday, April 28, at the United Helpers Nursing Home in Ogdensburg. Graveside services and interment will take place at a later date in the Crary Mills Cemetery, Canton and will be announced by the Lawrence Funeral Home , Canton.
Surviving are one stepson David Ledwith and wife Debra of Cyclone, PA; and two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Ledwith of PA. She was predeceased by three brothers, Carlton, Maxwell and Robert Mayne.
She was born July 24, 1924, in Lisbon, a daughter of Arthur W. and Grace Mayne. She graduated Lisbon High School and later from Wallace Secretarial School in Ogdensburg.
On June 22, 1957, she married Everett Henry VanHyning at the First Presbyterian Church of Canton with Rev. Jack Wells as celebrant. Mr. VanHyning died December 11, 2007. Mrs. VanHyning was employed as the President's Secretary for Canton A.T.C. for 35 years, retiring in 1979.
She also enjoyed attending auctions with her husband. She enjoyed old advertisement memorabilia and dealt with antiques for roughly 35 years.
