Carolyn Johnson Brookins age 85 passed away Monday, July 9, 2018. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home. Burial will be at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Brookins was a native and resident of Milledgeville. She was retired from Central State Hospital as an executive secretary of the Police and Fire Department. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Wiley and Veta Ivey Johnson, her husband John Kelley Brookins, Sr., and two grandsons Trae Brookins and Andy Brookins. She was a founding member of Northside Baptist Church, a homemaker, and a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her sons, John Brookins, Jr. (Gayle) of Tifton, Al Brookins of Ivey, and Michael Shane Brookins (Jamie) of Charleston, SC, her daughter Glenda Chandler (Herbert) of Milledgeville; four grandchildren, Clay Brookins (Jennifer), Al Brookins, Jr., Kelli Anne Chandler and Carolina Brookins, two great grandchildren, Evie Brookins and Briana Brookins; special friends and caregivers, Johnnie Mae Smith and Juanita Walls.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Benefit Fund c/o Wanda Blackwell 2249 Vinson Hwy, Milledgeville, GA 31061 or to ARF.
