WILLIAMSBURG - Lois Josephine Leiter, 78, of Williamsburg, died Wednesday morning at Grand Traverse Community Hospital in Traverse City.
Formerly of Chicago Heights, she moved to Skegemog Lake in 1986 and later to Williamsburg. She enjoyed baking and cooking.
Born in Mulkeytown, Ill., on Nov. 18, 1912, she was the daughter of Walter and Elfie (Furlow) Copeland. In April 1950, in Chicago, she married Verner E. Leiter, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Myrna Qualkinbush of Indianapolis and Mrs. John (Verna) Blackwell of Traverse City; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Bob (LaVern) Burwell of Lavern, Calif.; two stepsons, Neil Leiter of Torch River and Marvin Leiter of Western Springs, Ill.; three sisters, Mrs. John (Ruby) King and Helen Browning, both of Christopher, Ill, and Mrs. Humbert (Elizabeth) Winget of Mulkeytown; two brothers, Charles Copeland of Mulkeytown and Earl Copeland of Sesser, Ill.; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. The Rev. David Gabel will officiate.
Friends may visit from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Michigan Home Health Care Hospice Fund, 1955 E. Commerce Drive, Traverse City, Mich. 49684.
