Aaron Burr Collier married Melison W. Capenter, of the town of Otsego, July 18, 1832, when she was nineteen years old. They were farmers in the town of Morris, and had a family of nine children, five sons and one daughter living to mature age, and one son and two daughter dying young. Charles H. died November 13, 1866, in his twenty-first year, having always been of a frail physical constitution. There was a pair of twin boys in this family: Defferitt and Dewain and Edwin and Edward. Dewain died in 1890, at the age of fifty, leaving a family; Defferitt is a carpenter, and a resident of Chemung County. Edward is a farmer of Oneida County. The sister who is living, Iantha, is the wife of William Edgett, a resident of Chenango County, and a pensioner of the Civil War.

The headstone has a death year/date of 8 MAR 1880, however the Will Index found at the Surrogate Court in Cooperstown, Otsego, NY for Aaron Burr Collier only gives a death year of 1882.
