Gene Doughty was born May 4, 1923, in Marysville, TX, the son of Charles Doughty and Maggie (Ramsey) Doughty and died April 28, 2009 in Muskogee. He served in the United States Army during WWII. In 1972 he married Eleneta Morrison in Winterhaven, CA. He was a farmer. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patsy Moore; two sons, Leo Mattingly and Pat Mattingly and two grandchildren, Stephanie Hamby and Jason Hamby. Survivors include his wife, Eleneta Doughty of the home; children, JoAnn Cowden and Clifford, Kathy Garland and Dale, Marsha Presson and Harry, John Mattingly and Regina, Richard Mattingly and Jeannie, Evon Pendley, Sarah George and Jack Eleneta Walters; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at McLain Cemetery with William Flynn and Lisa Sowers officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.
Gene Doughty married Frances Virginia Byfield on Nov. 30, 1942 in El Reno, Canadian County, Oklahoma. They had four daughters, Jo Ann, Patsy Jean, Kathy Marie and Marsha. Gene & Frances divorced later.
