Ora served in the army in World War I.
Ora worked at the YMCA in Lincoln. Ora moved to St. Joseph, MO where he worked at Dover's Cafe. He then got a job at Ford Motor Company where he worked until the stock market crash 4 Oct 1929, when the plant closed. Ora moved back to Lincoln, NE where he worked as a milker at a dairy farm for $1 a day and a quart of milk. He then got a job at State Oil Company which was later bought by Phillips Oil Company.. The family moved to College View where Ora got a job with Sutters Dairy as a milk truck driver. He worked though several years of milk wars where one driver would steal accounts of others. After several years of this he got a job inside the plant where he worked for 6 years. He made $75 a month at this time. Ora's then got a job with the Lincoln Police Department as a police officer where he worked until his eyesite began to fail. The police department gave him a retirement and allowed him to work as a meter enforcement officer until he retired.
Ora died on 9 Sep 1996 at one hundred years old in Lincoln, NE and was buried in Lincoln Memorial Park in Lincoln, NE.
