THOMAS A. COX was born on March 25, 1907, on a farm near Tekamah, Nebraska, to Thomas and Katie (Sklenar) Cox. He passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Tekamah at the age of 101 years.
At the age of two years, he moved with his family to Leon, Iowa. At the age of sixteen, he returned to the Tekamah area to work on a farm.
On October 30, 1927, at the age of twenty years, Tom married Cordie May Crom at Tekamah. To this union five children were born: Elmer, Lloyd, James, Doris and Marjorie. Tom farmed most of his life until they moved into Tekamah in 1976. Tom and Cordie enjoyed 73 years together until her death in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cordie May; brothers: George and Bert; sisters: Jessie Reynolds and Margaret Ray; son: Lloyd and three grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his sons and daughter-in-law: Elmer Cox of Lincoln; James and Normajean Cox of Albany, Missouri; daughters and son-in-law: Doris Ferdon of Omaha, Nebraska, Marjorie and Gene Kohler of Chiefland, Florida; 20 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 51 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great-great grandchildren; and sister: Daisy Choltman of Parkville, Missouri.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, July 14, 2008, 10:30 a.m., First Baptist Church, Tekamah, Nebraska.
BURIAL: Tekamah Cemetery
VISITATION: Sunday, July 13, 2008, 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will also be held Monday at the church one hour prior to the service.
