Trapped in her automobile as it crashed through the ice on Madison Lake, Mrs Kate Allen Anceney of Bozeman was drowned early tonight while returning from a fishing trip. Her son, Charles, Jr., about 17 years of age, and another boy, Clyde Simpson, escaped from the machine and swam to the surface through the hole the car made in the ice. Their frantic efforts to rescue Mrs. Anceney were futile. The woman's husband, Charles L. Anceney, is a prominent stockgrower. He and their daughter, Rea, are visiting in Los Angeles. The party had been fishing through the ice on Madison Lake, near McAllister. An expert diver was sent to the scene tonight to attempt to recover Mrs Anceney's body. The lake is about 30 feet deep where the car plunged in. Mrs Anceney is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Kate James of Bozeman, and three sisters.
