Rosanna Welsh Ewart, know as "Posie" to family and friends, died in Wilmington, North Carolina, on June 15, 2015. She was the daughter of Fanita and Vernon Welsh and grew up in Winnetka. Mrs. Ewart graduated from the North Shore Country Day School and Mills College. After college she worked for two years at the Marshall Plan in Paris. Back in the U.S. in 1951, she married Clifford B. Ewart. The Ewarts lived overseas for many years working with the United Nations Development Program in the Middle East, New Guinea, and Fiji, among others. Mrs. Ewart was an accomplished linguist which was a distinct asset during their foreign residences. Upon retirement, the Ewarts settled in Wilmington, N.C. where they enjoyed participating in community charitable and cultural activities. "Posie" earned a Master's degree in French history at the University of N.C. Wilmington. Mrs. Ewart was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Margaret. She is survived by her son, John (Linda), a grandson, David (Erin), two great grandsons, her son-in-law, Henry Tapp (Julie), a sister, Sallie VanArsdale (Wilson), two nieces, a grand niece and a grand nephew. A memorial service will be scheduled in Wilmington, N.C.
