Trixie Jerlene Porter was the daughter of James Loyce and Ola Miracle Porter of Harmony, Arkansas. Her paternal grandparents were Augustus F. and Marvillia Gardner Porter. Her maternal grandparents were William F. and Alice Payne Miracle. Trixie had two older brothers - Gus Porter and Buel Porter - and two younger brothers - Lyall Porter and Bill Porter.

On December 26, 1942, Trixie married Christopher T. Buchanan in Logan County, Arkansas. Christopher's parents were Christopher Trinkle and Rose Lee Cleavenger Buchanan, of Harmony, Arkansas.

Since Christopher was in the US Air Force during World War II, he and his bride left Arkansas to follow his military service. They spent most of their married lives in Phoenix, Arizona.

Trixie and Christopher had two sons; Chris A. Buchanan and Bruce Buchanan.

Upon their passing, both Trixie and Christopher were laid to rest in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
