Obituary: "West Bristol - Last Wednesday we were led to reflect upon the uncertainty of human life as well as to pay a tribute of respect to a kind neighbor. Joseph RHEA was born in Bell township, Westmoreland county, Pa., Dec 26th 1828 and died at his home in West Bristol, Nov. 3rd 1890, having resided in Bristol 25 years. He was married to Miss Louisa Wortman March 3rd 1852. She was called to the christian's home two years ago. They had seven children and one adopted son. For many years he had been a faithful member of the Congregational church and in all the varied relations of life he was faithful and true. Some years ago that insidious disease, consumption, marked him for its victim and slowly but surely pursued his footsteps into a fatal termination. As it is ever to the christian his end was peace and at the call of the Master he joyfully bid farewell to earth and went to join his companion on the evergree shore." ("Western Reserve Democrat" Nov 14, 1890, p 9)

Item 1st: That all of my debts shall be paid. Item 2nd: That there shall be placed on the lot in the cemetery a family monument such as would correspond with my estate. Item 3rd: That Albert R. Rhea to have three fourths of an equal share of my estate. Item 4th: That the rest of my heirs shall share and share alike except my daughter Nellie, who is to receive one hundred dollars in excess of an equal share. Item 5th: My daughter Mary E. Igo, having already received fifty dollars, the same shall be deducted from her share and in addition to this, fifty dollars of her share and also fifty dollars of my estate to go to my granddaughter May, the same to be received and paid to her when she becomes of age. Item 6th: That Ida L. Hulbert and Mary E. Igo are to have and to hold their respective shares for the benefit of their heirs. In testimony hereof, I have herewith set my hand and seal this 4th day of October in the year 1890. [signed] Joseph Rhea" (Will Records Trumbull Co., OH, Oct. 4, 1890)
