Jeanette Kathleen Hoskins Lay of Bedford, IN, died Sunday, January 7, 2001, at Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on August 2, 1922, in Quicksand, KY (Breathitt County), she was the daughter of William Walter and Leona Emma (Bennett) Hoskins (Shapcott). She first married Henry B. Sherman on August 23, 1940, in Louisville, KY, and he died in 1984. She married Floyd Lay on July 22, 1976, in Bedford, IN, and he also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Walter Henry Sherman of Tallahassee, FL; two daughters, Mrs. Jimmie (Annette) Goodman of Bedford, IN, and Ms. Marlene Bowen of Louisville, KY; one step-daughter, Mrs. John (Eunice) Siler of Kansas City, MO; one step-son, L.C. Lay of Cleveland, TN; one sister, Mrs. Dale (Georgia) Goodman of Bedford, IN; six granddaughters; four step-grandchildren, and nine step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Jessie L. Hoskins.

She was a merchant a newspaper woman in Stanton, KY. She was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church and Eastern Star.

Services for Jeanette Lay will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10th, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Burks officiating. Burial will follow in Sheeks Cemetery.
