He was born on Aug. 20, 1934, in Benton, the son of Joseph "Joe" Benjamin and Ruby Pearl (Elimon) Aaron.
He married Patricia "Patt" (Wheat) on June 5, 1954, and she preceded him in death Sept. 30, 2008.
Mr. Aaron was of Baptist faith.
He was a retired cement mason and coal miner.
He was a construction supervisor of the Franklin County Jail Public Building Commission. He was on the Benton Planning Commission.
He was a member of the Liars Club.
Mr. Aaron last worked for Auto Credit of Southern Illinois.
He is survived by one daughter, SaLinda McCommons of Benton; one son, Brad Aaron and wife, Robin, of Benton; grandchildren, Erin Theiss and husband, Jeremiah, of Creve Couer, Mo., Jeremy McCommons and wife, Jessica, of Spotsylvania, Va., Casey McCommons and wife, Erin, of Ina, Preston and Becca Aaron of Benton, Amanda Reed and husband, Eric, of Misawa, Japan; great-grandchildren, Logan and Landon Theiss, Caden McCommons, Laney and Ethan McCommons; one brother, Bill Aaron and wife, Louise, of West City; one sister-in-law, Faye Aaron of West City; and brother-in-law, Frank Jamrozek and wife, Teresa of Henderson, Nev.
Mr. Aaron was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steve McCommons; and his brother, LaVern "Moon" Aaron.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton. At the conclusion of the visitation, there will be a short funeral service conducted by Jeremiah Theiss. Burial will be in Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton.
