Dr. Harvey Cromwell, died September 14, 2007 in West Plains, Missouri. A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Hopewell Cemetery with Reverend Taylor Moore officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 14, 1932 in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He was the son of Harvey and Mattie Lou Patterson Cromwell, and was the grandson of Sheldon Cromwell, great grandson of Gaston Cromwell, and great great grandson of John Stewart Cromwell, all from Oxford, Mississippi. Harvey graduated with a Bachelor and a Master degree from the University of Mississippi, and a Doctorate in Psychology from Mississippi Southern. He practiced for 30 years in Lafayette, Louisiana before retiring to Missouri. Harvey was a life-long enthusiast of Jazz music, and a devoted Civil War buff.
Harvey first married Virginia Pace, the mother of his sons. He then married Beverly Cromwell. He is survived by his wife Beverly, sons Harvey "Hall" Cromwell III, and William Cromwell and his wife Jamie Oliver Crowell. Step-children, Deborah Fontenot, Cathie Dettmar, Baker Simma, and Elisabeth Simma. Grandchildren, Kayley, Jill, Andrew, Anna Laura, and Nate Cromwell and step grandchildren Amanda and Sarah Fontenot, Baker, Brett, and Kate Simma. A sister, Mrs. Betty Jane Lawrence and nephew Robert and niece Beth Lawrence.
