Valda Joyce Clark, or Joyce, as she was known was the eldest of 12 children born to James Mitchell Clark (15 Oct 1898 - 17 May 1967) and Grace Florence Williams (8 March 1900 - 24 Feb 1969.
Joyce married Arthur Pittam (21 April 1921 - 20 March 1991)in Brisbane on 23 May 1946, and two daughters were born of this union:
Janice Anne born 3 May 1947 and Margaret Helen, 17 September 1948 - 9 July 1993.
During WWII, Joyce served in the Women's Land Army, a time of which she was understandably proud.
She was the consumate housewife, loved cooking,sewing and needlework and kept a spotlessly clean home. Her two daughters were always beautifully dressed in dresses she had made.
Joyce and Arthur divorced, and he was killed in a car accident at Currumbin, Queensland, Australia.
