Mrs. Sands was born March 15, 1919, in Dixon, the daughter of Henry Minzes and wife Anna, nee Smith.
She received her education in Dixon.
On Dec. 12, 1935, she was united in marriage to Lawrence "Slim" Sands in Vienna, Mo.
She worked at Deb Shoe Factory, and for many years, she was the pie maker at D. Sands Restaurant in Labadie.
Mrs. Sands was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; one brother, Daniel Minzes; and five sisters, Irene Sudheimer, Naomi Minzes, Martha Watson, Marie Duncan and Bertha Stolte.
She is survived by one son, Donald Sands, St. Clair; one daughter, Shirley Brinkmann and husband Bob, Labadie; four grandchildren, Jim and Kathy Brinkmann, Labadie, Cherie Colemann and husband Kevin, Illinois state, Joyce Meyer, Catawissa, and Tina March and husband Jay, Robertsville; 10 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Olive Sudheimer and Wanda Lane, both of Rolla, and Anna Random, Cumming, Ga.; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 30, at Labadie Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jan Reimers officiating.
Burial was in Bethel Cemetery, Labadie.
Memorials to Labadie Methodist Church or Old Bethel Church are preferred.
The family was served by Oltmann Funeral home, Washington.
