John Emmett Barrett, 75, Labadie, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2004, at his home in Labadie.

Mr. Barrett was born April 24, 1928, in Boles, the son of Charles Robert Barrett and his wife Adella Sophia, nee Horn.

He received his education at Boles School and graduated from Washington High School.

Mr. Barrett served in the U.S. Army from Sept. 11, 1950, until July 4, 1952.

He worked for TWA for 35 years and Fred Weber Construction for 36 years.

Mr. Barrett was a member of the Washington Elks Lodge 1559.

He was preceded in death by one brother, James Barrett, and one sister, June Kolb.

Mr. Barrett is survived by one son, Ryan Eugene Barrett, Chesterfield; one daughter, Deborah Jeanne Barrett, Minooka, Ill.; his companion, Kathy Miller, Washington; four sisters, Mildred Miles, Manchester, Marguerite Shugart, Houston, Texas, Martha Toben, Creve Coeur, and Joan Maher, St. Charles; one brother, Robert "Pat" Barrett, Taft, Calif.; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 27, at the United Methodist Church in Labadie with the Rev. Sue Biggerstaff officiating.

Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery, Labadie.

Memorials to Disabled American Veterans are preferred.
