She was the daughter of R. W. Benedict, why died about sixteen years ago. Myra was born in Brant and spent most of her life in her native town. In July 1870 she was married to Mr. Merrill Lamont Hawkins. At an early age she gave her heart to God, connecting herself with the M.E. Church and remaining a consistent member until called to her reward above. Her parting injunction to her husband was, "teach our little ones to love Jesus and meet me in heaven."
She leaves a husband, two children, a widow mother and one sister to mourns her loss. Myra was know and loved by a large circle of friends and her untimely death is deeply lamented by all. Her funeral was largely attended at the M. E. Church in Brant, on Sabboth last; Rev. G. S. Walson, preached from Prov. 14-32, "The righteous hath hope in his death."
